194,000 Unclaimed Civil ID Cards Still Lying in Machines

Khaled Al-Shammari, the official spokesperson for the Public Authority for Civil Information and the Director of the Office of the Director General, has disclosed a significant backlog of unclaimed civil cards in the authority’s branches and its central office.

According to Al-Shammari, there are currently 194,000 unclaimed civil cards still lying in kiosk machines. These cards belong to individuals who have not collected them yet, reports Al Qabas. He further mentioned that the My Identity application has gained popularity, with over 3 million users. This application serves as an official alternative to the physical civil card and is widely accepted in various sectors, including banks and the private industry.

Al-Shammari commended those who actively respond to notifications issued by the Authority through the Sahl application, which alerts individuals about the availability of their civil cards for collection.

He urged the public to expedite the retrieval of their ready civil cards to free up space and allow the Authority’s staff to process and issue cards for other applicants. Al-Shammari also clarified that the issuance of civil cards typically takes three working days from the application submission date.

Additionally, he confirmed that preparations are in progress to reinstate the civil ID delivery service after finalizing the necessary auction-related procedures.
