The Ministry of of Electricity Water (MEW) has successfully integrated its bill payment system with the Ministry of Interior, allowing for the seamless collection of debts from expatriates and Gulf nationals departing the country. A sum of 250,000 dinars has been collected by the Ministry through various channels. These include the customer service office at Kuwait Airport, as well as the multiple sector offices situated across Kuwait’s regions. Additionally, the Ministry has provided electronic payment options to facilitate the settlement of dues for those departing the country.
This strategic move is expected to yield several benefits. Primarily, it will bolster the Ministry’s revenue collections, ensuring the efficient recovery of outstanding dues, reports Al Rai. Furthermore, it serves as a preventive measure against the accumulation of debts among consumers who rely on the Ministry’s essential services.
It is worth noting that this initiative was undertaken to enforce a new requirement: all departing individuals must settle their dues with the Ministry of Electricity and Water before leaving the country. This integrated approach not only streamlines the payment process but also reinforces financial responsibility among those benefitting from the Ministry’s vital services.
