145 Kilograms of Unfit Food Destroyed

The Capital Governorate Inspection Supervisor at the Food and Nutrition Public Authority, Abdullah Al-Siddiqi, stressed the need to pay attention to the food items that are purchased to ensure their validity has not expired – the validity of fish and meat in particular and ensure the product does not smell bad, reports Al-Anba daily. Al-Siddiqi said in a statement, following an inspection tour of a number of restaurants, shops, and central markets in the Capital Governorate, that the tour resulted in the issuance of 9 violation reports, the closure of two food establishments, and the destruction of a quantity of fish in Sharq Market during the auction, explaining that 145 kilograms of food were destroyed saying the foods were unfit for consumption, and were subsequently damaged.

He went on to say, three tons of expired food supplies and unfit for human consumption were also destroyed, pointing out that the Food and Nutrition Public Authority is keen to control food security in the country, indicating that inspectors in the food supplies department in general work 24 hours a day. He pointed out the need to ensure that the food consumed is fit for human use, pointing out the need to report unsuitable materials via line No. 1807779.
