His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak witness the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding for investment partnership.
His Highness the Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah held talks on Tuesday with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, focusing on bilateral relations, which date back more than a century. Conveying His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s greetings to King Charles III, His Highness the Crown Prince and the British Premier expressed a mutual desire to propel ties to even greater levels.
His Highness the Crown Prince arrived in London a day earlier to attend and sponsor a ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the inception of Kuwait Investment Office, the London branch of the country’s sovereign wealth fund. Meanwhile, Kuwait and Britain sealed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding on an investment partnership in a signing ceremony attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
The deal was co-signed by Kuwaiti Deputy Premier, Oil Minister, in addition to acting finance minister and State Minister for Economic and Investment Affairs Dr. Saad Al-Barak, alongside British Minister of State in the Department for Business and Trade Lord Dominic Johnson. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al- Jaber Al-Sabah and a host of Kuwaiti senior diplomats and foreign ministry officials. In other news, researcher in Kuwaiti-British relations Essa Dashti displayed, on Tuesday, rare pictures of the first visit of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to London in 1919. Dashti told KUNA that the opening of the cultural exhibition at Dickson House Museum is coinciding with the current visit of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the United Kingdom to open the country’s new investment bureau. On the pictorial collection, Dashti said the 1919 visit marked the first for a member of the ruling family to Britain. He further noted that Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber was representing back then ruler Sheikh Salem Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah to congratulate King George V on World War I victory.
