Hope for family visit visas soon.

The First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled issued a decision to add a new clause to article 4 of ministerial resolution No. 957/2019, which stipulated the introduction of a new type of entry visa to Kuwait, which is an entry visa to practice sports, cultural or social activities. Informed sources indicated that this signals a move to re-allow family entry visa applications after a hiatus that lasted several months, reports Al-Rai daily.

They explained that the move to open the door for family visas comes after completing a number of procedures related to the mechanism for issuing visas, and the conditions required for those who apply for them in terms of salary and job. It will be limited to first-degree relatives only.

Regarding the entry visa for sports, cultural or social activities, the sources explained that the visa will be issued by the Directorate General of Residence Affairs based on a request submitted by a one of the sports clubs or accredited cultural and social institutions, bodies and associations in the country, in accordance with the controls set by the Directorate General of Residence Affairs.

According to the decision, the visa allows its holder to temporarily reside in the country for a period of three months. It may be renewed for a period not exceeding one year from the date of entry, in accordance with the provision of article 11 of Amiri decree No. 17/1959.

The sources praised the move to grant visas for sports, cultural or social activities for a period of three months, and to allow their extension in accordance with regulations and procedures for a period not exceeding one year, affirming that this step will contribute to facilitating various related activities, as well as allowing the openness required to stimulate the economic and commercial movement in the country. They said the Ministry of Interior is currently working on setting up a special mechanism to receive visa applications by taking online appointments to visit the residence affairs departments according to the procedures.
