Kuwait backs Small Island Developing States.

Group aims to show solidarity and raise awareness mainly on climate change

Kuwait on Monday affirmed, before the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the importance of backing the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) as they are subject to natural disasters caused by climate change. This came in a meeting held between Kuwait’s permanent mission and UNESCO member states within the frame of cooperation between the two sides.

Kuwait’s representative to UNESCO, Dr. Adam Al-Mulla, during a meeting with the Group of Friends of Small Island Developing States.

Head of the mission Dr. Adam Al-Mullah said in a statement that it expanded its priorities to cover efforts of backing SIDS. He said that he established in March 22, in cooperation with Armenia’s permanent mission to the UNESCO, the SIDS friendship group, which attracted more than 50 countries from different continents. The group aims to show solidarity with those states and raise awareness on their needs in the face of risks facing them, mainly climate change, he said.
