Move to cut waiting period for clients

Assistant Undersecretary for Planning, Training and Information System at the Ministry of Electricity and Water Ahmed Al-Rashidi announced that the ministry on Sunday launched a mechanism for clients to book appointments to visit the Services Sector, Administrative Affairs Sector, Job Arrangement Department in the evening — from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

In a press statement, Al-Rashidi explained that the ministry took this step to reduce the waiting period in view of the current circumstances. He pointed out this will make it easier for those who could not complete their transactions electronically. He said the public can process their transactions through the ministry’s website and smart phone applications, but some people cannot do so for various reasons; hence, the need for them to visit the ministry’s building.

He affirmed the Customer Services Sector has started receiving those who cannot complete their transactions online. He added the ministry allotted the evening period to facilitate procedures for clients and reduce the waiting period, taking consideration the decision to limit the number of employees reporting for work as per the health regulations; such that crowding in the morning period is also avoided.

He said the ministry remains committed to the policy of social distancing in compliance with the health regulations implemented by the Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of corona. He disclosed the number of workers currently reporting for work ranges from 50 to 60 percent of the total workforce, while others are working from home. He clarified that the number of employees reporting for work depends on the needs of departments or sectors, stressing the health regulations are strictly followed.
