MOH allows Kuwaiti doctors from private sector can work in multiple locations.

Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basil Al-Sabah has issued a ministerial decision to allow Kuwaiti doctors working in private hospitals on full-time basis to open a clinic or work in private medical institutions outside the official working hours but in line with certain conditions and regulations, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to the decision, these conditions require the license applicant to be at the level of a specialist doctor and above. Also, the approval of the hospital administration, represented by the chairman of the hospital’s board of directors or whoever he authorizes, must be obtained. The doctor will use this to open a private clinic or to work in another treatment institution outside his original working hours. He should specify the working hours in his original workplace and the hours that he will work outside of his original working hours in his private clinic or a treatment institution. This will be determined by an official letter directed to the Health Licenses Department for the purpose of monitoring compliance with the prescribed number of working hours.

According to the second article of the decision, the application must be submitted to the Medical Licensing Committee to verify fulfillment of the aforementioned conditions and the rest of the other requirements established in accordance with the law and the ministerial decisions organizing them.

The third article affirms that the current licenses of therapeutic institutions granted to doctors working in the private medical sector will continue to be valid with permission to specify or transfer them, unless the license is canceled based on the applicant’s desire or in implementation of any legal procedure.

As per its fourth article, the decision stipulates that the Health Licensing Department would continue to complete the procedures for those who obtained initial approvals from the licensing committee until the date of convening the committee meeting No. 15/2019 held on September 12, 2019.
