Majority of government ministries have started to implement Kuwaitization policy by terminating expatriates working for them, especially those working in non-technical fields.
The procedures to terminate expat staff working in government ministries was reported as termination letters were handed. Those who are working on contracts in expertise fields termination will be gradual so that the work will not be affected.
It is expected that more than 50% of expats working for sub contractors will be laid off in the next three months. Whereas all expats working directly in ministries will be terminated many of them have already been shifted to companies which are subcontractors for government ministries.
The head of the Parliamentary Human Resources Development Committee, MP Khalil Al-Saleh stated “The committee has taken concrete steps to replace and correct the demographic problem. We will hold a meeting next week to prepare our report and submit data and statistics to the National Assembly”
MP Al-Saleh called on the concerned government ministries to replace and accomplish what was agreed upon and expedite the work of rectifying imbalance, especially that there are expatriates working in non-technical jobs in the government sector.
He called on the Civil Services Commission to deal seriously according to resolution 11/2017 regarding the rules and procedures for government jobs in government ministries, and to replace 100% of total workforce with Kuwaitis by terminating all expatriates.
