People with special needs in Kuwait are heading to polls throughout the country and exercising their democratic rights during the 2023 National Assembly elections. Despite all the odds, such individuals are overcoming all obstacles to make their voice heard via picking their preferred candidate for parliament.
The 2023 National Assembly election is witnessing a strong participation from women voters who insisted on being present and visible at polling stations throughout the country. While many women were seeking to cast their votes in the elections, they were others who were helping their fellow females to cast their ballot. Kuwait’s Interior Minister Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Sabah called for efforts across state bodies to simplify the voting process for the national electorate, as Kuwaitis head to the polls in parliamentary elections on Tuesday.
As he personally toured a number of polling stations across Kuwait, the minister said that extra priority should be given to the elderly and people with special needs as they cast their ballots, calling on security personnel on hand at polling stations to provide all forms of assistance to voters. First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and Acting Defense Minister Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah kicked started on Tuesday an inspection tour of polling stations involved in the 2023 National Assembly elections.
The minister began his tour of polling stations across the country starting with Jahra governorate. Senior Interior Ministry officials and governor of Jahra Nasser Al-Hajraf accompanied him in his first stop. The security authorities, represented by the Ministry of Interior and the Kuwait Fire Force (KFF), are putting in great efforts in organizing the 2023 National Assembly elections.
The involved authorities are providing services and facilitating the voting process, so voters can perform their national duty. The KFF teams are present at 36 polling stations in the five constituencies, which were allocated vehicles and teams for rapid intervention in case of an emergency. Volunteers of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) are heavily involved in facilitating the voting process of the 2023 National Assembly elections. While assisting the elderly and the disabled, the KRCS volunteers will go beyond the call of duty to serve their nation during its democratic celebration.
Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi took a tour in the Editorial sector at KUNA, to check the workfl ow of covering the 2023 national assembly elections, which started earlier Tuesday, and was briefed on the agency’s efforts in conveying the information to local, Arab and foreign media agencies. During his visit, the Minister listened to a detailed explanation of the various efforts and services provided by the agency in terms of news, reports and press interviews, which in turn helps various media outlets with to cover the parliamentary elections in the best way possible.
Al-Mutairi was also briefed on the work plan in the editorial sector and the field teams covering all constituencies in the country. He praised the important role of KUNA in covering “Kuwait’s Democratic Wedding”, urging to put in the efforts to present it the best way possible. The Minister of Information was received by KUNA’s Director General Dr. Fatima Al-Salem, Acting Deputy Director for the Administrative, Financial Affairs and Communications Sector Mohammad Al-Mannei, Deputy Director-General for the Editorial Sector, Editor-in-Chief Essam Al-Ghanim, and senior officials.
