Gokhale Bridge: WR announces night blocks till January 14.

As the dismantling of the Gokhale Bridge in Andheri continues, the Western Railways (WR) has announced major night blocks, starting from the night falling between January 9 and 10. The block – which will take place from 12:15 am to 4:45 am – is scheduled for five consecutive days, ending on January 14.

During this block, some trains on the down slow-line will be diverted between Santacruz and Goregaon, due to which some trains will not stop at Ram Mandir railway station.

Sumit Thakur, chief public relations officer (CPRO) has said in the past that such night blocks will be regularly conducted for the dismantling of the bridge, whereas a mega block for the same is planned in March.

The divisional regional manager of WR shared an image on social media with details of trains cancelled or diverted.

“Major Block for Dismantling of Gokhale rail over bridge (ROB) on Down Local Line from 0.15hrs. to 4.45hrs. and on the UP & Down Harbour line from 0.45hrs. to 04.45hrs. on Dt. 09/10.01.2023, Dt. 10/11.01.2023, Dt. 11/12.01.2023, Dt. 12/13.01.2023 & Dt. 13/14.01.2023, (sic)” states his post.

The key Andheri East-West connector was partially shut in 2018 following a collapse and was completely closed down on November 7, 2022, after a routine audit declared it unsafe for vehicular and pedestrian movement.
