India begins second phase of Covid-19 vaccination drive.

On March 1, India began its second phase of inoculating people against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19). The second leg of vaccination focuses on those over the age of 60 and people aged 45 years or more with specified comorbidities. Over 5 million people signed up and close to 150,000 people from the general public received coronavirus vaccines on the first day. India, second to the United States in terms of Covid-19 cases, has so far delivered 14 million doses, mostly to health and front-line workers since starting its immunization programme in mid-January.
