Good communication is the bridge between confusion and clarity.
The latest addition to ICSK Group of Schools, Indian School of Excellence, Kuwait hosted the Webinar “Art of Communication” on 27th February, Saturday. It was an evening filled with the anecdotes & interaction for both parents as well as children. Thanks to the Virtual Life style we currently have adapted to, the session was witnessed by parents of different schools in Kuwait as well as India, Hon. Chairman for the Boardof Trustees- Mr. Shaik Abdul Rahiman, Hon. Secretary Mr. Azharuddin Amer Mohammed, Principals, Vice-Principals and Deputy Vice-Principals of all 4 ICSK Schools. The Guest Speaker Mrs. Pinky Tripathi, Principal of Thakur Ramnarayan Public School, Mumbai, India; kept the participants connected while sharing her tips & tricks on how we as parents can communicate effectively with our children and vice-versa.
In her welcome address, Mrs. Sherly Dennis, Principal ISEK urged both the parents and children to make full use of the webinar which enhances their understanding of communication. She emphasized that “Being a good listener is the most important quality of a good communicator”.
Mrs. Pinky Tripathi started the session with an anecdote about falcons and their life lessons of flying high. Through practical examples she helped parents understand that, a slight change in their own attitude will bring about tremendous change in the behaviour of the children.
She also shed light on the fact that, “Communicating” is different from
“Talking”. She pointed out that the parents can show the path to the children and help them walk it on their own. She gave 10 different ideas on Effective Communication with kids like Talk to your child regularly, Describe the day, Listen – Reflect – Repeat, Role play, Point out body language, Read with your child, Ask your children’s opinion, Encourage your child to keep a journal or diary, Work on their vocabulary and Think.
She ended her presentation with a quote, “Speak to your children as if they are the wisest, kindest, most beautiful and magical humans on the earth, for what they believe is what they will become”
A “Question and Answer” session followed, where the parents asked her suggestions on how to help introvert kids to open up, how to sway the kids away from gadgets, her suggestions on helping kids get interested in reading and the books she would recommend for kids as well as teens.
The Hon. Secretary Mr. Azharuddin Amer Mohammed shared his appreciation on how the session was very well presented and conducted and honored Mrs.Pinky Tripathi with the Virtual memento.
