The Secretariat General of the National Assembly has categorically denied the rumor that the Assembly pays an expatriate consultant a salary of KD10,000 with other privileges such as a house near the sea and a car. According to the Secretariat General, the consultant’s salary is much lower than the rumored amount and he was not granted a house or a car.
It affirmed the concerned authorities are monitoring the salaries of employees at the Assembly, adding that the nationalization of jobs in the legislature is ongoing and has reached 91 percent so far. It then appealed to the media to verify information prior to publication and obtain information only from official sources.
On the other hand, MP Thamer Al- Suwait forwarded queries to Minister of Commerce and Industry and State Minister for Economic Affairs Faisal Abdulrahman Al-Medlej about the expatriate employees in all ministries.
He requested for a list of these employees including their nationalities and type of employment contracts. He wants to know the reason why ministries do not hire additional Bedoun workers to replace the expatriates, type of contracts for Bedoun employees, and why their salaries are not equal to that of the expatriates and citizens of other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
He demanded for a list of Bedoun and GCC employees, their qualifications, experience and salaries. He also asked for a report on the average salary of expatriate workers. He inquired about the total number of employees in the public sector and jobs with low number of citizens.
He requested for copies of statistics and researches on this issue. He asked about the average accomplishment rate of replacing expatriate workers with nationals, number of expatriate employees at the Civil Service Commission (CSC), date of the most recent termination of expatriate employees, and reason why the CSC does not implement the decision on recruiting the children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis despite its publication in Kuwait Gazette. He inquired if the CSC paved way for the recruitment of nationals for the jobs occupied by expatriates.
If yes, he requested for copies of advertisements for these jobs, list of those who were accepted and those who were rejected including the reasons for rejection. He demanded for a list of the members of the Recruitment Committee at CSC, their job grades and experience; in addition to the number of employees who resigned and reasons for resignation. He asked if the Administration and Legal Affairs Department at CSC submitted a report on these resignations to the senior officials.
MP Musaed Al-Ardi submitted questions to Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Ali Fahd Al-Mudhaf about updates on the job description of teachers. He asked why the tasks of the director of the Coordination and Follow Up Department at the Public Education Directorate are included in the job description of teachers, such that they are among those eligible for special allowances stipulated in CSC decision numbers 2/1996 and 20/2006. He requested for copies of the advertisements for the recruitment of the director since 1991 till date.
