Taking ‘flu vaccine’ this year very, very important.

‘No relationship between flu vaccine, coronavirus’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1: While medical opinions confirmed that there is no relationship between the seasonal flu vaccine and the prevention of the coronavirus, doctors have stressed at the same time that taking the flu vaccine this year is very, very important, especially since talks have surfaced about the possibility of a second wave of ‘corona’ attack, reports Al-Rai daily.

Specialized doctors explained that the influenza vaccination is a very important issue for several reasons, most notably helping to reduce suspected cases of infection with the coronavirus, especially in the fall or winter seasons, and to reduce the burden on health facilities in these periods, as more cases of hospitalization are expected due to influenza infection.

The doctors have warned of the danger of infection with influenza and the coronavirus together, which poses a grave risk to those suffering from high risk factors such as the elderly and people with chronic diseases, and hence the importance of taking the flu vaccine this year to avoid the double risk of ‘seasonal infl uenza and corona’.

Vaccination

The doctors have stressed on the need for vaccination at an early date compared to previous years, in light of the talk about the possibility of launching a vaccine for the coronavirus next November. Informed sources told the daily the Ministry of Health has provided sufficient quantities of influenza vaccines to all health facilities, while at the same time stressing according to the medical point of view, that it is necessary for groups suffering from risk factors to initiate influenza vaccination campaign.
