KD2 fine for overstaying with expired visas.

No instructions have been forthcoming as of yet granting an extension for residence and all kind of visit visas, according to remarks from the MOI General Dept. of Residency Affairs, reports a local daily.

In the event the Ministry of the Interior decides to allow a visa extension, the online system will swiftly automate the process of renewals without the need for a review from the competent department for all those whose residency and visit visas have expired.

The daily said, quoting sources, the residency affairs departments are awaiting instructions, and until then, everyone whose residency or visit visa has expired are obliged to leave the country at the beginning next September, otherwise they will be in violation of the law, and will have to pay a penalty of two dinars for each day of violation.

Regarding the list of 32 countries from where expats are banned from entering Kuwait, the daily said that the department are also awaiting instructions for what to do for those expats who are restricted from flying.

Around 40,000 expatriates have lost their residency permits after being unable to renew them as they were stranded abroad due to the global coronavirus pandemic. They have to be issued new visas.
