Education ministry officials hold talks on ‘preparations’ for new school year.

Distance learning given precedence.

Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Activities, Faisal Al-Maqsid, held a meeting with the assistant undersecretaries for Planning and Follow-up Committee for the academic year 2021/2020 to follow up the preparations for the next phase and the gradual return of the educational and teaching staff, according to the plan approved by the Council of Ministers, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

During the meeting, Al-Maqsid discussed the mechanism of work of the social and psychological researchers in schools and the provision of all requirements for distance education, and called for the assistance of various sectors to help take preventive measures. Al-Maqsid also discussed the electronic transformation of library services in schools.

For his part, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs Yousef Al-Najjar referred to the fund allocated for schools in addition to the distribution of books. Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Research and Curricula, Salah Dabsha, confirmed that the titles of the books scheduled for all academic levels have specified, in addition informing the printing presses about the titles of new books.

Dabasha also submitted a report on the contracts for the sector. Assistant Undersecretary for Special and Specific Education, Dr. AbdulMohsen Al-Huwaila, determined the estimated budget of teachers for various subjects and the supervisory positions of the Special Education Administration for schools in addition to the need for textbooks, buses, nutrition, equipment and all the sector’s needs and follow-up on their provision, indicating the process of hiring locals is in progress. Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education, Osama Al-Sultan, discussed during the meeting determining the estimated budget for the number of students expected to enroll, the evaluation mechanism for distance education in the first semester and interviews for local hire, in addition to supervisory job interviews and the training plan for distance education.

Outbreak
Meanwhile, the general trend of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Kuwait to apply distance education systems in the context of the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, which affected all sectors, including the education sector, the Kuwait Technical College concluded cooperation agreements with technology companies to develop teaching methods through distance education system.

Vice-President at the Kuwait Technical College, Abdulrahman Al-Ajeel, on the sidelines of the meeting said an agreement has been signed by the college and ‘Beams’ educational company. He stated the role of the college and its responsibility towards society necessitated signing cooperation agreements between the college and technology companies in order to develop teaching methods through distance learning system to stimulate the educational process and achieve its goals.
