Ambreen Mustafa takes over IWG presidency from Anita de Vogel.

The International Women’s Group (IWG) held a board meeting for members of the organization. During the meeting, the former President Anita de Vogel, wife of the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Kuwait, handed over the presidency to Ambreen Mustafa, spouse of the ambassador of Pakistan to Kuwait.

In her outgoing message, the former President Mrs. Anita de Vogel said, “My presidency for the season 2019 – 2020 has turned out to be completely different than I had expected.  So many plans for the events and excursions that the board and I had prepared suddenly had to be cancelled in March due to Covid. Now we are in August and the season is over.”

Speaking on the end of her term as President, and end of her stay in Kuwait, she said, “Not only my term as your president has ended but also my stay in Kuwait will soon come to an end. After five years I will leave this amazing country with my heart filled with fond memories of the good times that we shared, the immense hospitality that you offered and the friendship that you showed. Thank you so much for contributing to the memories that I will cherish forever!”

“Behind the scenes the board has continued preparations for the 2020 – 2021 season, in the hope and expectation that we can soon meet again,” she added.

Introducing the new President, Mrs. de Vogel said, “I am most happy to present to you Mrs. Ambreen Mustafa, wife of the ambassador of Pakistan, as our new president. I am convinced that Ambreen, with her enthusiasm and her experience with international women organizations in former postings, will be an excellent president.”

Biding farewell to her colleagues and friends, she said, “Dear friends, my time with IWG – the most prominent women organization in Kuwait – was unforgettable. I wish you and IWG all the best for the future. Stay safe and healthy!”
