Some educational districts will submit a proposal to Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Saud Al-Harbi regarding the permanent online education mechanism for primary school students, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.
Sources revealed the proposal includes division of the school week for formal and remote education — two days for two classes of first and second grade students in their schools. Sources said the same will be applied for students in the third, fourth and fifth grades; indicating the rest of the week will be completed through the online education system. Sources pointed out the aim of this division is to gauge the skills of students in this stage of formal education on a weekly basis, “because it is the most difficult stage for students entering the virtual classes.”
Sources disclosed there will be amendments in the primary stage document, the most important of which is allocating a day per month at the most for the student’s education electronically, through homework that needs to be sent online even after the end of the corona crisis.
Meanwhile, coinciding with the start of the completion of the academic year 2019/2020 for educational and administrative bodies in secondary schools on Wednesday; teachers stranded abroad entered the cycle of outage and salary deduction because the interruption will be calculated as absence with an acceptable excuse.
A source familiar with the daily stressed that the secondary school departments in all educational districts are working to count the number of teachers stuck abroad in order to provide the Public Education Sector with their data and discuss their conditions in coordination with the competent authorities.
The source added the most likely approach for the ministry is to coordinate with its health counterpart to exclude teachers from the return procedures that prevented them from joining their work places as per the decision to ban flights coming from 31 countries issued last Friday
