Penumbral lunar eclipse to occur in Kuwait on Sunday

A penumbral lunar eclipse will occur on Sunday, as the moon passes through the faint portion of the earths shadow, said Kuwaiti astronomer Adel Al-Saadoun.

The eclipse will start at 6:04 a.m in Kuwaits time and ends at 8:55 a.m, Al-Saadoun told KUNA on Saturday.

Tomorrows lunar eclipse cannot be seen with the naked eye but only through a telescope, he said. It will not be possible to see it in the Gulf region, while it will be visible in west Europe, west Africa and the Americas, the astronomer added.

Meanwhile, he noted that 2020 is a special year regarding the number of eclipses, having a total of four penumbral lunar eclipses and two solar ones.

Al-Saadoun said that there will be a full solar eclipse in December and one penumbral lunar eclipse in November.(KUNA)
