We hope and pray to Allah (SWT) that you all have been good health and spirits during this holy month of Ramadan and have tried the maximum to get close to Allah ( SWT). May Allah ( SWT) accept our fasting, prayers, supplications, charity, connecting to our relatives and other good deeds. May Allah ( SWT) spare us from hell-fire and allow us enter his Jannah through Bab Al-Rayyan.
Now that we have done our best, it will be time to celebrate our Eid Al-Fitr. However, before we do that, we would like to remind our brothers and sisters that we are supposed to deliver Zakat Al-Fitr to the poor and needy, to enable them to celebrate Eid with us with joy. Zakat Al-Fitr is to be given before the Eid prayers, rather it is best in the last two days prior to Eid.
It is sunnah to give Zakat Al-Fitr in kind, one S’aa (approx. 2.5 kg to 3.0 kg depending upon the type of food) of rice, wheat, barley, dates etc. Since in Kuwait the staple food is rice, in some cooperative societies supermarkets, there are rice packets of approx. 2.5 kg available specially prepared for giving Zakat Al-Fitr. Otherwise, some charity organizations are also accepting cash from public (KD. 1/- per person), out of which they buy and distribute food to the poor and needy. We would like to remind our brothers and sisters that we are supposed to pay Zakat Al-Fitr to the poor and needy, for every member of the family including maids. It is preferred to pay a few days earlier so that poor people can enjoy their Eid.
During the days of lock-down, the following charities are collecting and distributing Zakat Al-Fitr. Most of the charities are collecting it now.
