All reassurances did not work – Shops and roads filled with unprecedented crowd

Hours before the total ban came into force, citizens and residents came out from all sides, panicked crowds who were racing towards supermarkets to buy food and consumer products.

Unprecedented long lines of cars wait for traffic to advance meters. Cooperatives and supermarkets, gas supplies noticed stampede, crowding, fighting and waiting in the sun during Ramadan.

All the assurances given by the competent authorities felt on deaf ears as the crowd turned towards the markets collecting the remaining meat and chicken, and the cooperative societies tried as much as possible to reduce the crowding while allowing entry only twice the number allowed, and yet the standers needed hours to enter.

Feelings of fear and panic increased due to the adhesion and stampede, despite the enormous efforts made by the concerned authorities and the Ministry of Interior, because the scene was crowded and nothing but crowding. The Ministry of Commerce had set dates for pre-booking shopping during the total ban period on two periods from 9 am – 3 pm, and evening from 8 pm to 1:30 am. As for catering branches, their appointments are also scheduled for two periods from 9 am – 2 pm, and from 8 pm to 12 midnight.

In these mixed and crowded scenes precautionary and preventive measures against the Corona virus was least paid attention, as securing food was more important than anything else.
