KDNA Malabar Maholsavam 2020 – an event to cherish

KDNA Malabar Maholsavam 2020 powered by Al Mulla Exchange Company,Shifa Aljazeera Medical Center and Calicut Landmark Builders was held with much enthusiasm and furor  in “Alikoya Nagar” at Indian Central school, Jleeb Shouykh  premises on 21st February 2020 with a daylong  flurry of competitions, presentation of great talents and ever remembering cultural event at the end. The yearly event is being held to show case the rich cultural heritage of Malabar and to portray the long term Indo-Kuwait relation.  

Well known versatile Indian Film Director Ranjith was the chief guest of the event and General Salah Al-Daas was the guest of honor.  

The whole day program started in the morning, with the traditional opening of the venue by  ribbon cutting by Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Center General Manager Zubair Musliyarakath and Al Mulla Marketing manager Mr. Housaifa  In this short traditional function in the morning,  Fahaheel area General Secretary Firos Nalakath , Anas Puthiyottil, Abbasiya Area President Abdurahman,  Farwaniya Area President Mansoor Alakkal, KDNA women’s Forum  General Secretary Ashiqa Firos, Women’s Forum  Treasurer Sajida Nazeer  among the few spoke during the session.

The morning time was dedicated to Live Salad Dressing Competition for ladies, Fancy Dress, Folk Dance and  Coloring   competitions for the children, where many ladies and children actively participated.

The afternoon began with Live Gazal songs led by KDNA executive member and well known singer Rafi Kallai and Sameer Vellayil. It was a memorable recital with number of songs and the spectators enjoyed with its uniqueness of rendering.

After that, the traditional procession led by the chief guest and KDNA members along with “shingari melam”.  The shingari melam was the highlight of this procession. The procession with Kuwait and India flags waved from the front was well received by the audience with its way of presentation by variety of plots.

The main formal function in the evening started with rendering of national anthems of Kuwait and India which was inaugurated by Chief Guest Director Ranjith and he congratulated KDNA for creating such platforms and working unitedly for the benefit of the community.  Guest of honor General Salah Al-Daas made guest of honor speech, appreciated the hard work of the community and distributed education excellence awards to KDNA family children who excelled in their respective examination.

Presided over by the Ilyas Thottathil, KDNA president, the traditional lamp lighting was done by Ranith and other dignitaries. The main sponsors of the event Al Mulla exchange company’s Marketing Manager John Simon, Shifa Al Jazeera General Manager Zubair Musliarakath and Calicut Landmark Builders Marketing Manager Amal made facilitation speeches.  Basheer Batha introduced chief guest. Krishnan Kandundi commemorated late Ali Koya, KDNA founder member who passed away last year.  Zubair MM briefed about Malabar Mahostavam event.  General Secretary Sathian Varoonda made welcome speech and Treasurer Sathosh Punathil rendered vote of thanks. winners of salad dressing competition were honored during the function by the dignitaries.  Suresh Mathur, Azeez Thikkodi , Zaheer Alakkal  and Leena Rahman coordinated the all on stage procedures.

The highlight of the event was Hridaya Harmoniume in the great memories of  MS Babu Raj, the versatile music genius once dominant in Malayalam film industry with his mastery over Hindustani music  and still live in the music lovers hearts’ with his ever green songs.   The KDNA members along with professional dancers, choreographed by Manjumitra Sarath, founder and director of Shivadam School of Dance, made mind boggling dance in tune with Baburaj ever green songs, and at the end chief guest well known Director Ranjith released the sovenior to the thunderous applause of the audience.  This was unique its uniqueness. The sovenior itself is dedicated to MS Babahuraj with its rich content from various well known writes which was conceived and edited by Dharmaraj Madapally and designed by Nasar Insight.

After that there was Jaison Melody’s live orchestra led by Rineesh & Snesha Ashok ad the comedy skit by Anil Baby & Mahesh which enthralled the audience.  Also mind blowing dance performance by Zero Gravity, Heart Beats & Break House.

The festival served to cater to the various tastes of people  including mouth watering dishes like Kozhikodan halwas & Banana Chips, special Kozhikodan vivid varieties of pickles including  Pineapple, Carrot, Beetroot, Mango etc.

Over all, it was a day to remember filled with arts and cultural show which was a feast for the family audience who gathered in the premises. The festive atmosphere was so scintillating that all enjoyed with the arts items presented throughout the day. The success of the program is due to the high-team work of central office bearers, central executive e committee area office bearers, women forum and sponsors who supported the event.
