OnePlus reveals data breach of its customers, says payment, password and account information are safe
OnePlus has declared a data breach of its customers from its website. Payment information, password and account details are declared safe.
The data breach has happened on the OnePlus website and has affected select OnePlus customers.
Those users being affected by the data breach have been informed by OnePlus through an official email.
OnePlus assures that the data of affected users don’t include critical information such as payment details and passwords.
Data security is a major concern these days than it ever was a few years ago. Despite employing the latest security protocols, those with malicious intentions find a loophole and exploit to gain access to data of hundreds of thousands of people on the web. Something similar has happened with OnePlus as the Shenzhen-based smartphone and smart TV maker has found an ‘unauthorised party’ gaining access to its customers’ data.
In a recent blog post, OnePlus has announced that its security team has found a data breach on its website, affecting many of its customers in the process. According to Ziv from the OnePlus Security Team, an unauthorized party had accessed information related to its customers’ order made from the OnePlus website. The information that has been accessed by the unauthorized party include users’ name, contact number, email and shipping address.
However, OnePlus assures that critical information such as payment information, passwords and account details are safe. Moreover, the data breach only affects a select number of OnePlus customers. Hence, the company is reaching out to the affected customers through an email, warning them of the threats they could face. OnePlus warns its victim customers receiving spam and phishing emails as a result of this data leak.
Currently, OnePlus is working with the authorities to investigate the incident and once it’s complete, OnePlus could share the details with the world.
