On the evening of 27 October 2017, at the residence of Rajesh Verlekar, the monthly meeting of the Writers’ Forum, Kuwait was presided over by noted Urdu critic–Mrs. Maimuna Ali Chougle whereas, the renowned nonagenarian Punjabi & Urdu poet–Shri Kidar Nath Kidar—(fondly addressed as Bauji) was the chief guest for the evening. The General Secretary of WFK-Rajesh Verlekar conducted the proceedings of the meeting.
At the outset, the Executive Committee apprised the members about the presentation of a Memento to the Ambassador H.E. Shri Sunil Jain, on behalf of the WFK on October 10, 2017, and in appreciation of the support and co-operation extended by H.E. Shri Sunil Jain towards all the endeavours of the Forum. All the members reiterated their appreciation towards the Honourable Ambassador and wished him the very best in the years ahead.
The meeting comprised two sessions: Article / Story session and the Poetry Session.
In the first session, Maimuna Ali Chougle read an article on one of the former WFK Presidents Jasbir Singh Dhiman and spoke on his life, personality and writings. A narration of his childhood memories, Bacchpan Ki Ek Kahani was presented by Sunil Sonsi.
During the second session, members recited their poems / compositions in varied Indian languages. Dr. Radhika Bhardwaj, Vinay Purbia and Dr. Arvind Raina recited their respective poetry in Hindi, while Rajesh Verlekar recited in English and Satya Narayan in Tamil. Dr. Navniit Gandhi read a poem in Punjabi, while Ameeruddin Ameer recited in Kannada, and Saeed Nazar Kadpavi and Sayed Qamar Minto read their respective poetry in Urdu.
In conclusion, the Chief Guest Shri Kidar Nath Kidar appreciated and praised the work done by the Forum which involves bringing together writers and poets from different Indian languages on one single platform. He then eloquently recited his poems in Punjabi as well as in Urdu, which received a heart-warming applause from the listeners. Maimuna Ali Chougle, in her Presidential address, thanked Baujifor gracing the monthly meeting and stirring the hearts with his wonderful renditions.
Mr. Ali Chougle and Ravin Singh were also present in the meeting. All the members and guests thanked Rajesh Verlekar and Dr. Navniit Gandhi for the warm hospitality.0
