Kuwait’s Parliament Speaker Al-Ghanim adjourns regular session after Eid Al-Fitr.

National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim adjourned Tuesday’s session until after Eid Al-Fitr in accordance with Article 116 of the Constitution due to lack of quorum, non-issuance of a decree on forming the new government and absence of the caretaker government. He then explained that the regular date of the next session falls within the last 10 days of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr holiday, so he adjourned the session until after the holiday. 22 MPs including Al-Ghanim were present when the speaker decided to adjourn the session:

MP Obaid Al-Wasmi posted on his Twitter account immediately after the adjournment of the session: “The people of Kuwait have no contribution to the current miserable political situation. The government is not concerned about the citizens, while HH the Prime Minister and ministers were not chosen by the people. This is a clear manifestation of mocking the people and disrespect of State institutions committed by a number of the Sabah Family members. This is unacceptable.” Earlier, MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri disclosed in a press statement that he and the opposition MPs decided not to attend the session. He added that the coming days will unveil the truth and measures will be defined according to the situation. He also asserted that he, most lawmakers and the people of Kuwait stand with the same party, pointing out that they will not take decisions individually.
