Director of the Hajj and Umrah Affairs Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Sattam Al-Muzain said the ministry presented several requests to the Saudi Ministry of Hajj during the joint meeting recently,” reports Al-Qabas daily. Al-Muzayen revealed these requests include increasing Kuwait’s quota to more than 8,000 pilgrims due to the high number of registrations on the electronic platform; and allow Bedouns to perform Umrah and Hajj.
He added the concerned Saudi authorities are currently studying these requests and will respond soon. He also affirmed that the inspection team assigned in the pilgrims’ accommodations in Makkah completed their task on Thursday. He added all the official caravans have finalized their contracts with hotels and residential buildings, stressing no serious observations have been recorded so far. Meanwhile, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Kuwait Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khaled Al- Saud affirmed the high and prestigious position that women have reached in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in line with the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision, reports Al-Anba daily.
Prince Sultan bin Saad made the statement at a ceremony organized by the Embassy of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of the International Women’s Day. Present at the event were the wife of the Prince, ambassadors, and heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations. He pointed out the remarkable progress that Saudi women achieved in recent years, enabling them to be active in all fields. He revealed some laws have been amended and issued for all members of society to equally contribute to the realization of goals in the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision; including civil status, labor, social security and other systems.
He added: “Women account for 40 percent of scholarship students in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ external scholarship program, whose beneficiaries exceeded half million students of both genders.” He went on to say: “Women in Saudi Arabia have received the attention of the wise leadership in terms of leading some sectors, as the Kingdom has six female ambassadors heading Saudi missions in several countries and 20 percent of the members of the Shura Council are women.”
