Amiri Diwan conveyed His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s greetings on Tuesday to the citizens and residents on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan. The Diwan announced that His Highness the Amir will not receive citizens and residents to congratulate him this year, wishing everyone good health.
Furthermore, the Diwan wished His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah wellness and prosperity. Meanwhile, the Sharia Vision Authority meets at the headquarters of the Supreme Judicial Council, seeking to see the Ramadan crescent, while Kuwait is abuzz with preparations for the holy month, reports Al-Rai daily.
This is evident at the markets crowded with citizens and residents to secure their needs, before the holy month, in order to avoid shopping at night, which usually witness great traffic jams on the one hand, and to dedicate themselves to worship on the other. In the past two days, the “Ramadan situation” dominated the markets, in terms of the great popular demand for purchases, especially to buy the needs for the holy month such as the dates, meat and vegetables.
The Ministry of the Interior has prepared a security and traffic plan to facilitate the movement of cars without problems. The Director of the General Traffic Department, Major General Youssef Al-Khadda, announced the development of an integrated plan to keep pace with traffic congestion on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, indicating 400 security personnel and 200 police patrols have been pressed into service. Al-Khadda said, in a statement to Al-Rai that “the General Traffic Department has coordinated with the traffic directors in all governorates, and the plan has been prepared and implemented, through the deployment of traffic patrols and security men in the vicinity of central markets, cooperatives, and places that witness a high density of citizens and residents.
In latest development, Kuwait’s Moonsighting Committee has announced that Thursday will be the start of the holy fasting month of Ramadan Chairman of the Moonsighting Committee Justice Mohammad bin Naji made the announcement after the committee meeting on Tuesday evening. Consequently, Ramadan of the Hijri or Islamic calendar of 1444, will commence on Thursday, March 23, he pointed out. On the occasion, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Endowments and Islamic Affairs Abdulaziz Al- Majed greeted His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s political leadership, citizens and residents as well as the Arab and Muslim nations.
