Digitizing services eyed in Kuwait.

The Kuwaiti Cabinet Monday was briefed on the strategic partnership deal signed with Google Cloud to support comprehensive digital transformation in all government and state-run bodies. This came during the Cabinet’s weekly session headed by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al- Sabah at Sief Palace, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Barrak Al-Shiitan said after the session.

The deal will help the Kuwaiti government benefit from Google Cloud technology and its experience in data analysis, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and others in order to achieve digital transformation, which is a main part of Kuwait Vision 2035, Al- Shiitan noted. This shows the Cabinet’s keenness to implement what was included in the government’s action program of the 17th legislative term (2022-2026), mainly in digitizing government services.

The Cabinet was informed that Google in cooperation with the Direct Investment Promotion Authority, the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), and the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority, intend to open an office in Kuwait and invest in establishing its own cloud area that will support government agencies in terms of digital infrastructure and management of digital business tasks. Google Cloud will also work, in cooperation with the CAIT, to launch training programs to develop digital skills for government sector’s employees and others inside the State of Kuwait. The Cabinet lauded efforts made by the government concerned bodies in this regard. The Cabinet was then briefed on topics listed on the agenda of the regular National Assembly session set for tomorrow (Tuesday), and the complementary one Wednesday. Furthermore, the Cabinet expressed sincere congratulations to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani on the successful inauguration of the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup, running from January 6-19, wishing success to all teams.
