Rain, flooding in Maharashtra’s Konkan region claim 36 lives.

Thirty-six people have been killed in landslides caused by monsoon rains in Maharashtra, authorities said on July 23. The Navy and Air Force meanwhile have joined rescue efforts after heavy rains caused floods in the state’s Konkan division that left thousands stranded. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alerts for several regions in the state, indicating that heavy rainfall will continue for the next few days.
