Cyclone Tauktae weakens after landfall in Gujarat, at least 24 killed.

Cyclone Tauktae made landfall over the Gujarat coast in Saurashtra region between Diu and Una late on May 17 after passing close to coastal Maharashtra, leaving Mumbai with heavy rains, strong winds, and water logging. Over 200,000 people had been evacuated from their homes in Gujarat in preparation for the cyclone. The cyclone had weakened into a severe cyclonic storm from a “very severe” storm on May 18, the India Meteorological Department officials said.
