Kuwait recorded 261 new cases of coronavirus over the past 24 hours to up the total to 146,971, while 0 death was reported with death toll from the outbreak is 913, the health ministry said.

The number of people hospitalized with the virus currently stands at 3,149, with 54 of them in intensive care units, according to ministry Spokesman Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad, adding that some 6,633 swab tests were conducted over the last day out of a total of 1,196,920 so far.

The ministry had earlier reported that some 310 people had recovered from the virus over the past day, raising the total of those to have overcome the disease to 142,909.

The spokesman went on to urge citizens and expatriates alike that abiding by health precautions, mainly, following social distancing rules, is the only way to halt the spread of the virus.
