Ban on camping decision to be reviewed in December.

While the Kuwait Municipality has announced the cancellation of the spring camp season for this year, Municipal Council member Ahmed Al-Enezi said the decision will be reviewed again in December this year, reports Al-Rai daily. He said the decision will be taken according to the recommendations of the health authorities after the issue is presented to the Council of Ministers which will also ask the government to compensate the citizens for depriving them of the camping season.

The compensation will come in the form proposal to allow families to erect family tents in their backyards or home gardens according to certain conditions and specific areas. He pointed out the camping season that was cancelled given the dangers of corona infection because camping sites are considered gathering places therefore it is proposed that an alternative be offered to citizens to pitch their camps in their own comfort within a safe environment.

In a related context, an informed source in the Municipality told the daily there is the possibility of adopting the proposal provided it includes strict conditions as applied in the Spring Camps Regulations, in addition to the licensee submitting an undertaking to remove the tent and clear the area upon his request, especially since the duration of the tent’s license will be for a specific period only. The source emphasized that “the municipality often applies the spirit of the law, in a manner that does not contradict the regulations and instructions.”
