‘Issue deliberate decisions to restore pace of work in courts’.

Allow visitors: lawyers’ body

Chairman of Kuwaiti Lawyers Association Sharyan Al-Sharyan has requested that deliberate decisions be issued for the pace of work in the courts to return to its previous state, calling for quick and effective intervention through deliberate decisions and sincere endeavors, reports Al-Rai daily. Al-Sharyan declared the suggestion will make it easy for fellow lawyers to carry out their duties to achieve the interests of their clients, especially in its vital departments, citing the enforcement departments to which the interests of clients and litigants are linked. In a statement, Al-Sharyan expressed surprise at the existence of obstacles to the work of the courts and some state departments and agencies where references are required to obtain prior appointment, while entry to commercial complexes are allowed without prior appointments.

Al-Sharyan stressed on the extent of confusion that impedes the process of development, and adversely affects the nature of the work of fellow lawyers and their role in achieving the goal of defending the rights of their clients,” indicating the work of courts are hindered, alongside some state departments and agencies where visitors must obtain a prior appointment and barcode, while decisions have been issued to open major shopping complexes, clubs and malls to receive visitors. “We do not object to such measures due to the current situation in the country, but the courts and departments of the Ministry of Justice with the remaining state ministries should be allowed to receive visitors in accordance with the Ministry of Health regulations to guarantee the security and safety of citizens and expatriates,” he added.

He continued: If we are working in a system that believes in the inevitability of development and aspires to achieve the interests of the people, development will not be achieved by isolating courageous decisions that meet the requirements of the critical stage in which the country is currently in, as a result of the continuing spread of the Corona pandemic. The number of infections has increased significantly despite all the decisions and efforts exerted by the Ministry of Health to limit its spread and reduce its negative effects on the sectors of society. For this reason, we call on everyone to join hands and work in a team spirit to stir Kuwait to the shores of security, safety and stability, and to restore its leading and pivotal role, not in the region alone, but the whole world.
