Firemen battle container crane fire at Shuaiba Port.

Firemen spent a busy weekend dealing with several fire and road accident reports made from different locations around Kuwait. One of these incidents was a blaze that burned a container crane at Shuaiba Port yesterday. Firefighters from the Shuaiba, Mina Abdullah, and Um Al-Haiman fire stations rushed to the scene in response to an emergency call, and managed to put out the fire after they contained the flames before they could spread to other containers. No injuries were reported, and an investigation was opened to determine the cause of fire, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) said.

Meanwhile, firemen battled a blaze that started after a power cable caught fire near a house in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh on Friday, and the flames engulfed three vehicles parked nearby. Firefighters’ quick intervention helped prevent the flames from spreading to other nearby vehicles, KFSD said, noting that no injuries were reported in the incident. An investigation was opened. Separately, Farwaniya firefighters put out a fire that                                                          broke out in a vehicle at Ghazali Road Friday evening. No                                                              causalities were reported.

Road accidents
In other news, a man died in an accident involving a minibus on Salmi Road near the intersection with the Sixth Ring Road on Friday. Investigations are ongoing to identify the victim who did not carry any identifications on him, and reveal the circumstances behind the accident, KFSD said. Jahra firefighters handled the accident.

 

 

 

 

 

In the meantime, three people were injured in an accident involving a trailer truck and eight other vehicles, which was reported on King Faisal Road near Al-Siddiq Thursday evening. Farwaniya firefighters headed to the scene after the accident was reported, KFSD said. An investigation was opened into the accident.

Similarly, a three-vehicle collision on Fourth Ring Road Thursday evening left three persons slightly wounded, KFSD reported. Sulaibikhat firemen rushed to the scene in response to an emergency call, and they put out a fire that started in two of the vehicles as a result of the accident. An investigation went underway to determine what caused the accident to happen.
