People eager for celebrations despite COVID-19 crisis

At a time when “CoronaVirus” has changed the face of life in general and disrupted many activities and work in particular, people are eager to hold weddings in their usual image, and to celebrate the night of life in the gathering of parents and relatives at wedding halls, homes, etc., reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily quoting informed sources at the Ministry of Health revealed that “there will be no return to weddings with joyful carnivals until a vaccine for Coronavirus becomes available”.

The same sources pointed out that the Ministry has approved strict restrictions to prevent the spread of infection, and won’t allow weddings and events in the ballrooms and halls, as was the case before the Corona pandemic, except under two conditions:

1. The pandemic has been eradicated  from the country. 2. Arrival of the expected vaccine, indicating the health requirements are reviewed according to the virus’ development.

They explained that all possibilities are presented to determine the date of the start of the fifth phase of the stages of returning to normal life, after it was scheduled to start 3 weeks after implementing the fourth phase on August 18, pointing out that the ministry has set criteria by which the country will be moving from one stage to another, and has a duty to fulfill before announcing any move to the final stage.

They stated the return of social events will be in line with some conditions yet to be announced, the number of those present at the site of the event, and the obligation of those in charge to allow a certain number not exceeding 50 or 60. They indicated that weddings at ballrooms and halls will be allowed in the fifth phase, but in specific numbers, and the measures will continue until a coronavirus vaccine arrives.

In response to the question of ‘Why the ministry does not allow weddings to take place despite the overcrowding in some commercial centers and markets’, sources said: Those who go to the complexes and markets are mostly shopping and walking, and accordingly, there are no health risks mentioned in such activities, as is the case in gatherings at offices and events.

They noted the requirements for holding social events will be announced in the coming days, pointing to the ministry’s keenness to implement all health requirements in all activities that have been allowed to resume recently.

Regarding the expected date for the arrival of the Corona vaccine, which the ministry earlier announced acquiring in quantities, sources suggested the vaccine will arrive next November. He stressed that communication with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Organization of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization continue, indicating the Ministry is working to accelerate the pace of its arrival in the country before November after receiving all official endorsements.
