Kuwait's Holy Family Cathedral opens it doors after 4 months

The Holy Family Cathedral in Kuwait City reopened its doors to the faithful today, 7th August 2020, after nearly four months of closure, in keeping with the directives of the local Health Ministry. Various expats from Indian, Filipino, Sri Lankan’s community attended the liturgical services.

The faithfuls have been asked to maintain social distancing in order to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Also precautionary measures have been taken as only those between age of 15 and 65 are allowed to enter the Cathedral premises to participate in the liturgical services.

To attend Mass one must REGISTER ONLINE since the number of faithful that can attend is fixed and limited. On registering, one receives a notification which is then verified at the entrance.

At the Cathedral, various safety procedures have been put into place. The entrance and exit to and from the premises have been streamlined to avoid crowding. As part of the safety routine, a temperature check is carried out. It is mandatory for everyone to wear a mask and sanitize their hands and footwear before entering the Cathedral and halls. The bench which normally accommodates ten people has been restricted to only three and the place is freshly sanitized after every Mass. Physical distance is also a priority whilst receiving Holy Communion.
