More than 34,000 expats have left Kuwait since mid-March

The number of expatriates who left the country via Kuwait International Airport during the period from mid-March to a few days ago reached 34,634, including violators of residency law, on a total of 210 flights.

The agencies operating at Kuwait International Airport have mobilized to facilitate the travel procedures for expatriates in coordination with Ministry of Interior, their country’s embassies, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Health and General Administration of Customs. All obstacles were overcome and the potentials harnessed through medical examination procedures before entry, stamping of passports, weighing of luggage, and distribution of protective masks to all passengers.

Based on statistics issued by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), an official source from the directorate revealed that the number of residents from the Egyptian community who left the country as of last Friday reached 8,000.

He said the first flights to evacuate members of the Egyptian community began on May 5, with prior coordination between Ministry of Foreign Affairs and DGCA.

In addition, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced that the evacuation of expatriates who wish to leave the country continued during the Eid holidays, in coordination with Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It was revealed that 969 expatriates left Kuwait International Airport on five flights in a single day. This included three Jazeera Airways flights to India with 435 passengers.

The first trip was to Cochin, second to another city in Kerala and the last to Punjab. There was also a Kuwait Airways flight to Dhaka with 334 Bangladeshis aboard, and a Qatar Airways flight to Doha with 200 passengers
