6 Things to do when you are Locked-Down in Kuwait ?

Dear Brothers, We are all going through a testing times in Kuwait due to lock-down cos of Corona Virus, Instead of lamenting on the situation, let’s take this as an opportunity to make best use of it.

Calamities and disasters are a test, In the saheeh hadeeth it says: “The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. When Allah loves a people He tests them. Whoever accepts that wins His pleasure but whoever is discontent with that earns His wrath.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi,

Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “Do not resent the calamities that come and the disasters that occur, for perhaps in something that you dislike will be your salvation, and perhaps in something that you prefer will be your doom.”

Remember the words of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good, If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for him.”

Let’s look at what options we have at home to better utilize during this lock-down, below are some of the useful alternate we can make use of

1 – When Masajid are closed, Let’s make our home mini masjid
Lead daily five times prayer at home along with your family. Let head of the family be the imam for next few days until lock-down is over, This way we are training our kids to be punctual about daily 5 times prayer. As soon as you hear Adhaan go and do wadu and encourage your family to do the same, this will have lasting impact on kids and they will cherish this memory in their life.

2 – Family Based Ijtema
Once in a while, while you are leading prayers at home, you initiate a family based Ijtema where all the family member will participate, you could assign small Islamic topics to kids for them to present during this Ijtema. This way you are encouraging kids for public talk and they will enjoy this new way of small Ijtema at home. Make this gathering very short to make sure we don’t bore kids with long speeches.

3 – Time to read Books
When was the last time you read a book, We all know that, this is social media age and we all have very less time for books, Allah SWT has given us golden opportunity to reflect on some of Islamic topics by reading good books. While you are spending your time at home, let’s benefit from free time by reading books, someone said if you are not growing you are dying and if your intellectual growth is stand still then you are dying. Don’t die while you are still alive !

4 – Spend Quality Time with your family
We all know how much we ignore our families when it comes to spending quality times with them. They die to speak to us and share their feelings and we are busy in our own jobs and businesses. Let’s try to sit and listen to our wife, daughters and sons. According to a book “You are not listening” author says, most of men have bad listening skills which kills the quality of relationship, Your partner most likely not to share any feelings if they tends to see that you don’t pay attention to their talks.

5 – Watch Useful Series
I’m against watching TV on regular occasion but since we have lot of time let’s make good use of it by dividing our time. Question is: what to watch ? There is one amazing Turkish series called Dirilis: Ertugrul which was translated in Urdu language. This series is a amazing story of how Ottoman empire was built during Mongol onslaught. You can watch this series along with family and get inspiration. This has many value based stories which indirectly impact kids behavior. 6 – Make lots of Dua n pray Tahajjud
At these difficult times, one of the strongest dose to move-on in life is a strong iman, Increase your iman by praying nafeel prayers and specially Tahajjud and make lots of Dua for you and your family. Also pray for Well being of Kuwait in particular. We should always seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah as He is The Most Merciful. People often forget the importance of the simple yet powerful Dua Istighfar.

Don not lose hope in the mercy of Allah, Keep yourself safe at home and strictly follow the instructions by Ministry of Health from their twitter handle https://twitter.com/KUWAIT_MOH

O Lord, Indeed distress has touched us, and you are the most merciful of all those who show mercy.
