Kozhikode District Association, Kuwait organized mega event titled ‘Kozhikode Fest 2015’ on Friday, 10th April 2015  at Indian Central School, Abbasiya to celebrate its 5th Anniversary. Thousands thronged to the open auditorium of Indian Central School to witness the mega event. 

Kozhikode Fest 2015 was inaugurated by HE Mr.Sunil Jain, Ambassador of India to Kuwait. Association President Haneef.C presided over the inaugural meeting held in connection with the event. General Secretary Shyjith.K, Patron Shabeer Mandoly, Norka representative Sharafuddin Kanneth and Mahilavedi President Biji Ramakrishnan also spoke on the occasion.  The souvenir published in connection with Kozhikode Fest 2015 was released by handing over a copy to Mr. T.C Ahmed, Managing Director TC One Properties by Ashraf Aydeed, Patron.  Shareef Thamarassery, Souvenir Convenor and Hassankoya, Sponsorship Convenor also participated in the souvenir release function. Main sponsor of the event was honoured on the occasion and memento was presented to them by Rajagopalan Edavalath, Patron. General Convenor Ramdas Chilamban welcomed the gathering and Najeeb.P.V, Treasurer expressed vote of thanks.   Nowr Nasim and Divya Kiran compered the programme. 

The open air location and the bright lights of the stage set the perfect mood for a magical musical program. Versatile artist Chitra Iyer, well known play back singer, Actress and TV anchor. Remshi Ahmed, Rameez Khan, Biju Thikkodi, Rafi Kozhikode sang their famous numbers to the cheers of their excited fans. 

Mimicry artist Shyju Perambra who is famous for sound magic displayed his skills that evoked excitement from everyone present. The Kozhikode Fest 2015 ended with a coupon draw and wonderful prizes were handed out to the winners.  


Distinguished personalities from different walks of life attended and enjoyed the evening. Those who witnessed the event will cherish the memories for a long time to come

Kozhikode District Association Mahilavedi conducted Free Medical Check-up Campaign and which literally transformed Indian Central School, Abbasiya into a Super Specialty Hospital on 12th December 2014. This epoch making event, organized in association with the Indian Doctors Forum and the Kuwait Heart Foundation was utilized by more than five hundred people, most of which are among under privileged category. The services from around forty specialized faculty of IDF from various departments such as General Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, ENT, Radiology, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Oncology, Dermatology, Dental and Physiotherapy made the campaign most useful.


The medical campaign was inaugurated by His Excellency Mr. Sunil Jain, the Ambassador of India to Kuwait. Mahilavedi President Mrs. Biji Ramakrishnan presided over by the inaugural function. IDF President Dr. Vinod Grover, General Secretary Dr. Jaffer Ismail Ali and Association President Mr. Haneef.C spoke on the occasion. In appreciation of the services provided to the camp Mementos were presented to all organization’s representatives by IDF Coordinator Dr. Sunil Yadav, Association General Secretary Mr. Shyjith.K, Treasurer Mr. Najeeb P.V and Mahilavedi Secretary Mrs. Mymoona Aydeed. General Convener Mrs. Reeja Santhosh delivered welcome speech and Mahilavedi Treasurer Ms. Rekha.T expressed Vote of thanks.


Cholesterol check-Up by Kuwait Heart Foundation, Blood Sugar Test by Roche Diabetes, Vision Test by Leena George & Team and ECG were other attractions. Around fifty paramedical staff also rendered their free service for the smooth functioning of the campaign. The organizers were congratulated by H/E the Ambassador, for conducting such socially beneficial activities, during his camp visit accompanied by IDF President Dr. Vinod Grover, Dr. Amir, Central School Principal Mrs. Santha Maria, Association Patrons Mr. Shabir Mandoli, Mr. Ashraf Aydeed, Mr. E.Rajagopalan and office bearers of the Association and Mahilavedi.  Balavedi members also have played a key role in the Medical Camp.

Kozhikode District Association Abbasiya Area Office bearers for the year 2015-16 have been elected unanimously in the Annual General Body meeting held at Pravasi Auditorium, Abbasiya. The new office bearers are: Gireesh Babu.K (President),Sreenivasan.E.P (Secretary), Shivakumar (Treasurer). Shyjith.K, Ramdas chilamban, Hassan Koya.K, Ragesh.P.D, Bharathan.E.C, Kunhiraman.K,  Rathidas.K.V, Rasheed.K.K  were elected as representatives to Central Executive Committee.

Abbasiya Area Mahilavedi office bearers are: Theertha Rijin (President), Sisitha Gireesh (Secretary), Bushra Shams (Treasurer). Indira Radhakrishnan, Shyna Priyesh, Aneecha Shyjith, Ambili Ragesh, Shakhirani Bharathan, Naseema, Bindu Rathidas, Reshmi Anil were elected as representatives to Mahilavedi Central Executive Committee.

Gireesh Babu presided over the Area Annual General Body meeting. Sreenivasan.E.P welcomed the gathering. Association President Haneef.C, General Secretary Shyjith.K, Joint Treasurer Muneer Marakkan explained the association activities in detail.  

Siraj Eranhikkal and Rajagopalan.E were the returning officers who controlled the election proceedings. Haneef.C, Rajagopalan.E, Biji Ramakrishnan, Shaji.K.V, Aboobacker.K, Ramakrishnan.M, Anil Kumar, Mymoona Aydeed, Rekha.T, Santhosh.O.M and Raju S Kandy offered felicitation to the newly elected office bearers and central executive committee members.  The newly elected office bearers spoke on the occasion. Kozhikode District Association, Kuwait celebrated Onam-Eid on September 12th, 2014 at Indian Community School, Khaitan. His Excellency Mr. Sunil Jain, Ambassador of India to Kuwait inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. Association President Mr. Haneef.C presided over the inaugural function. General Secretary Mr. Shyjith.K explained the activities of the Association. Art and Culture Secretary Mr. Aboobacker.K gave Onam-Eid message. Kerala Pravasi Welfare Board Director Mr. Varghese Puthukulangara, Association Patrons Mr. Shabeer Mandolly, Mr. Ashraf Aydeed and Mr. Rajagopalan .E, Mahilavedi President Mrs. Biji Ramakrishnan offered felicitations. Also His Excellency Mr. Sunil Jain congratulated and awarded the Children of the association members who achieved higher scores in the 10th and 12th Board examinations held in 2014. Mr. Ramakrishnan.M and Mrs. Reeja Santhosh compered the day long program. General Convener Mr. Ragesh.P.D welcomed the gathering and Association Treasurer Mr. Najeeb.P.V expressed vote of thanks.


A beautiful ‘Pookkalam’ was arranged at the venue by Mr. Abdul Nisar and team. The celebration was memorable with the attendance of large number of members, presence of the eminent personalities of social, cultural, economic and commercial field of Kuwait. Kozhikode district association family celebrated the joyous day with traditional and cultural programs of Kerala and Kuwait including Onam songs, Thiruvathirakali, Oppana, Mohiniyattam, Bharathanatyam, Kolkkali, Arabic dance, Kavitha, Ganamela, Mappilappattu, Cinimatic dance, Comedy skit…etc. The lip-smacking ‘Onasadya’ with more than 20 traditional side dishes under the leadership of Mr. Sreenivasan.M, was the main highlight which was served to more than thousand persons who took part in the celebrations. 

Maveli, the symbolic representation of king Mahabali blessed all of the association members and was present throughout the day to cherish the celebrations. The participation of large number of members, variety of programs by Mahilavedi, Balavedi and members exhibited the great talents of the association members and which made the Onam-Eid celebration to the grand success. Association thanks all of who attended the function to share the love and happiness of Onam and Eid with us.

Kozhikode District Association Balavedi- the children's wing  committee formation meeting was held at Kabad Resort. Shahana Sameer (President),Sneha Rathidas (Secretary), Namitha Shivakumar (Treasurer) were selected unanimously by the balavedhi members. Office bearers of various areas were also elected on the occasion as detailed below,

Abbasiya: Keerthana Pramod ( President), Jaslin ( Secretary),

Fahaheel: Sooryakanth Santhosh ( President), Kripadas (Secretary),  Farwaniya: Hessa Fathima (President), Jumana (Secretary),

Salmiya: Vyshnav (President), Muhammad Vaswan (Secretary) and

Jahra- Muhammad Shammil (President), Muhammad Shammas (Secretary). 


Balavedi, under the Mahilavedhi formed to aim the overall development of the children including nurturing the talent in the children, creating awareness about our mother tongue, personality development in the children through counselling, create awareness about culture and tradition of our nation and raise the academic standards through recognition of excellence. Free Malayalam learning classes are conducted all part of Kuwait in order to develop the mother tongue skills in balavedi children.


Mahilavedhi president Mrs.Biji Ramakrishnan presided over the function. Assosciation patron Mr.Rajagpalan.E, Assosciation president Mr.Haneef.C, General Secretary Mr.Shyjith.K and Treasurer Mr.Najeeb.P.V delivered felicitation to the newly elected team. The new office bearers thanked the members in their return speech. Mahilavedi Secretary Mrs.Mymoona Aydeed welcomed the gathering and Balavedi Acting President Ms.Sneha Rathidas proposed vote of thanks.

Kozhikode District Association, Kuwait distributed Family benefit and treatment aid under Karunyam scheme funds. Family Benefit fund distributed to Mr. Balaraman who is our Farwaniya area member and met with an accident while he was on vacation in Kozhikode. He was seriously injured and underwent an operation. Now he is planning to continue in India until complete his course of treatment. Family Benefit Scheme implemented by Kozhikode District Association, Kuwait have proved to be a blessing hand to many members who need the financial support due to injuries by accident and members bereaved family upon the unexpected demise.

Karunyam scheme fund disbursed to Mr. Rajan from Odumbra, Mr. Abdu Rhman from Kakkodi and Mr. Abdul Salam from Madavoor. 'Karunyam Scheme' implemented by the Association to help the underprivileged Kozhikode district natives to meet medical expenses for the treatment of severe ailments like heart diseases, kidney ailments, cancer, etc. whose treatment expenses are very high and beyond the reach of common man. The association had helped almost 50 persons in the previous years and the numbers of applications we receive for medical assistance are increasing day by day.

Kozhikode District Association, Kuwait is celebrating the Christmas and New Year on 25th December 2014, Thursday at Pravasi Auditoruim, Abbasiya from 6:30 PM onwards with colourful programs. There will be varietyentertainment programmes by members of the Association including music, dance, skit, cinematic dance will be staged as a part of the celebration. All members are kindly requested to attend and make it a grand celebration.

Kozhikode District Association,Kuwait honoured with a warm farewell to Mr. Sasidharan Kovileri, Central executive member and former Farwaniya Area President, who is leaving  Kuwait after the long 37 years of service and have decided to spend rest of the life with his family in homeland. 

Mr.Haneef.C, Kozhikode District Association President presided over the send off meeting held at Successline Auditorium, Abbasiya in presence of the executive members. In appreciation of the services rendered by him to the Kozhikode community in Kuwait and as a mark of love and affection a memento was presented to Mr.Sasidharan by association president.


Mr.Shyjith.K, General Secretary of the Association welcomed the meeting. Mr. Rajagopalan.E, Mr. Ramakrishnan.M, Mr. Shaji.K.V, Mr. Aboobacker.K, Mr. Shamsudheen.K.K, Mr. Thaha.K.V, Mr. Sasidharan.P.K, Mrs. Biji Ramakrishnan, Mr. Abdul Najeeb T.K and Mr. Kunhiraman.K felicitated to Mr. Sasidharan Kovileri.


In his reply speech Mr.Sasidharan thanked the Association for the love and affection he got from the members. Also he concluded that he will continue the services to the association from his native place in all possible ways. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Najeeb.P.V, Association Treasurer.
