We Finally Have A Real Pic Of India From Space On Diwali

A picture of India on Diwali, taken from space by ‘NASA’, has by now become a standing joke. The Photoshopped picture was circulated year after year – but people are wise to it now. So what does India actually look like from space on Diwali – the festival of lights? Thanks to astronaut Paolo Nespoli, we now have an answer. On October 19, the 60-year-old Italian astronaut shared a photo of India, taken from space.

Sharing a photograph of India, as seen from space, he wished everyone a happy Diwali.

Since being shared online just three days ago, the picture has collected almost 6,000 ‘likes’ and over 3,500 ‘retweets’. Many have thanked Mr Nespoli for sharing the pic.

Mr Nespoli, an astronaut with the European Space Agency (ESA), has been at the International Space Station for over a month for the Vita Mission.

While the NASA pic did not make an appearance this year on Diwali, another Photoshopped pic definitely did – that of the Golden Temple in Amritsar, lit up with sky lanterns.
