In case the growing number of local stores and even vegetable/fruit vendors accepting app-based payments or plastic currency isn’t evidence enough, here’s definitive proof the country’s really trying to embrace the concept of cashless transactions. A man in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, apparently paid for using a restroom by cheque, making it out to ‘Public Toilet.’ The payment was Rs. 5.
In a post shared on December 2, Facebook user Brm Muralidharan shared a picture of the cheque, which has since been invoking mixed reactions on the social networking site.
“Country moving towards ‘Cashless Economy.’ Payment made by cheque for Rs. 5 for using the Public Toilet in Madurai, TN. Goosebumps!!” Mr Muralidharan wrote on Facebook.
