KOLHAPUR: Imtiaz Momin and his brother Yusuf are known in their neighborhood for their ability to repair just about any kind of car. But recently, they worked their magic to make a vehicle fly, when they managed to fix not a car, nor a scooter or a bike, but a grounded helicopter.
The Kolhapur-based brothers own a small garage, Mistry Maharashtra Garage, in the Kasba bawda area of Kolhapur. Not far from their garage lives Sanjay Patil, Chairman of the Dr. D. Y. Patil Education Group.
Last Friday, some Chennai business contacts of Patil’s came to meet him. They traveled by helicopter. When it was time to leave, the Chennai residents found that the chopper just wouldn’t start.
As there is no helicopter-repair facility in Kolhapur, Patil thought of calling the Momin brothers.
They arrived at the helipad located inside Patil’s mansion and took a long, hard look at the chopper. Imtiaz found that an electrical fault was insulating the power supply to the main engine of the helicopter, which is why it wasn’t coming on
