The Indian Community School (Senior) Kuwait witnessed an extraordinary inaugural ceremony of the Dept. of counselling on 13thOctober 2016.According to the modern education concept the school counsellors are vital members of the education team. The main objective of the Counseling department is to help all students in the areas of academic achievement; personal/social development and career development, ensuring today’s students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow. School counselors are an important part of the educational leadership team and provide valuable assistance to students regardless of whether they work in an elementary school or middle school, high school or beyond.
The programme began with invoking the blessings of the God Almighty.Dr.V.Binumon, Senior Administrator & Principal ICSK (Senior)welcomed the august gathering and introduced the chief guest Dr.Joanne Hands, Director-Kuwait Counseling Centre to the audience. On this auspicious occasion, Dr.Joanne Hands Inaugurated the Counselling department and traditionally lighted the lamp along with other dignitaries. Dr. Hands expressed her great happiness and appreciated the department of Counselling for taking a newendeavour for the wellbeing of the Indian Cmmunity.She also whole heartedly offered her all support for the further growth.
Mrs. Asha Sharma, Kuwait Cluster Convener, felicitated the occasion and emphasized in her speech about the benefits of having an advanced counsellingcentre in Kuwait. She also appreciated the effort taken bythe Department of Counselling. Theprogrammecoordinator, Mr.Riaz, a faculty from the Department of Psychology spoke on the occasion about the merits of the counselling.Mrs .Aarushi ,a teaching faculty of the same Department conducted a power point presentation ,explaining the scope of counselling.Mr. K. GangadharShirsath,Principal ICSK –Khaitan, Father Lionel Braganza , Principal Don Bosco – Kuwait were present to grace the occasion .
The meeting was over with the vote of thanks by Mr. Shirsath, Principal , ICSK – Khaitan.1
